Thing 3: Explore How Educators Use Blogs!

I enjoyed learning how to work on my blog page. I liked designing and making it more my own. I still have a few questions about how I can move the title of my blog over so that it doesn't cover my "Musical note" image. Boy, this was really fun! I love adding beautiful pictures. I want my blog to be interesting and attractive. Can't wait to learn more about designing it.

I added a gadget, but don't thing I got it quite right. I was hoping that it might be beautiful pictures that would change automatically on the bottom of my blog. However, I had to click on an image and a window opened up. Is that correct? I hope I did it right. I would also like to add a side bar with additional things a person can do (in terms of gadgets), but I will have to learn that another day.

Here it is 10: 48 p.m. on Tuesday night, and I just can't seem to put my laptop up and get ready to retire. I am FASCINATED AND CAPTIVATED BY "23 THINGS"! LOOOOOOVVVVVVEEEEE IT! This is really exciting. I kinda stumbled through it but I enjoyed learning Thing #3.

Insight

As I read some of the blogs, I realized that one transition point for teachers and students will be getting accustomed to using this type of technology for learning and not just entertainment. I believe that the shift must happen in the minds of the educators who work with students. When do we begin to trust that students would effectively use this tool for their learning?

This really teaches me that it's important to develop their capacity to determine the accuracy and validity of the information they receive. I am finding that as I work through the activities of this project that it opens up my thinking. I invite anyone to share their insights about some of the perils and promises technology purposed for student learning might present to us.

Well,Tabpsalmist1954 signing off! See you soon! (;-)

  1. WOW - your enthusiasm is getting you ahead of us. Thing 12 will teach you lots more about widgets if you can wait ;-)

As for aligning your header image to the right - no can do. It's either image alone at left or image with blog name on top - Bummer!

  3. If you would like to add things along the side, just go to the top of your screen and click on the dashboard. When that opens, just click on Layout. Then you will be set. Keep up the great work!

  4. I agree with your insight. It's easy to be blinded by the "Gee Whiz" factor of anything new without paying attention to the underlying quality. One of my main goals in taking this course is to find a way to create a "sandbox" that students can enjoy and feel free to structure things in ways that make sense to them, while keeping them on track. Hopefully I'm not biting off more than I can chew :-)
